Happy New Year.
This is a very brief year in review. I managed to produce ten blog posts. Eight of them were about Izannah F. Walker and her family. There were 9,074 page views, which is surprising. That brings the all-time page view to 29,495.
The most popular posts were as follows:
1. Jane H. Walker Makes a Citizen's Arrest. This one showed Jane's feisty side.
2. Izannah Walker, Lincoln Supporter. This one provided an interesting insight into Izannah's political leanings.
3. Gilbert Walker's First Wife, Bridget Corey. This one added just a bit of information about Bridget. It is difficult to find information on women from her time period.
While these posts were popular, they did not contribute to what is known about Izannah F. Walker as a doll maker, which my favorite posts endeavored to do.
My favorite posts were as follows:
1. Everlasting Dolls, Formerly Made by Miss Walker. This information suggests that by December 1875, someone else was making Izannah's dolls, perhaps for her. It's impossible to know how long this continued before advertisements appeared in 1881 that suggest Izannah F. Walker was once again the doll maker.
2. The Painted Cloth Doll, 1853. In 1853, E.W. Billings advertised that he was stocking "Dolls of every description, including the painted Cloth Doll." This points to the possibility that Izannah was making dolls in a large quantity by 1853 and that they were locally known well enough to be referred to as "the painted Cloth Doll."
3. Izannah F. Walker Has Mail, 1849. This information suggests that Izannah was spending a significant amount of time in the Providence, Rhode Island area by 1849 and may have even been in residence by then.
